Mosman Community Gardeners is a community group running two food gardens in Mosman. Our main garden is in Mackie Lane: we run a smaller garden behind the Soldier’s Institute within the National Park at Middle Head.

Many people in Mosman live in apartments, have gardens unsuitable for growing vegetables or fruit, lack time to maintain a garden or the confidence to do so.  By growing food locally, we can:

– reduce food miles

– encourage healthy eating

– promote composting and sustainability

– re-energize and connect local neighbourhoods

– give people a way of engaging in pleasant physical exercise

We garden together in shared beds and divide up the harvest of the day.  We have a daily watering roster and once a month we hold an informal BYO garden celebration.

Our running costs are covered by annual membership fees, grant supports from Mosman Council, Mosman Rotary and by donations in kind from Bunnings Balgowlah.  Our free use of the site is through the generosity of Ausgrid who own the land.
